The best LEX hobs in 2020

The kitchen is where we spend a lot of time. For women, this is a universal room in the house: here she both rests and works. The kitchen is a territory for creativity, on which the well-being and happiness of the family depends. That is why it should be provided with everything necessary in order to want to return there again and again. Comfort and pleasure in the process of cooking is a guarantee of its quality and benefits.

The most important unit of the kitchen was and remains the cooking plate. But with the passage of time and technical progress, it began to change and acquire new forms and functions. An ordinary gas or electric stove combined with an oven is a thing of the past. And, although such models are still on sale, users are increasingly giving preference to modern, and therefore more convenient and functional devices.

The hob, or, in other words, the hob is the top of a standard hob on which the burners are located. Simply put, a stove without an oven.

This economical version is great for small kitchens. And not every housewife needs an oven, and if she does, then it is better to purchase a separate one, with more advanced cooking functions.

What to focus on when choosing

Electric or gas

In this case, it is impossible to say which one is better, because it depends on the available power sources of the house in which it will serve. If there is a centralized gas supply, then it will naturally be more expedient to buy a gas stove and not fool yourself. When choosing an electrical appliance, you need to take into account the state of the electrical wiring in the building: whether it can "pull" the load. For those who are not completely sure where to stop, a third option is provided - a combined hob, which has both gas and electric burners. This model is also suitable if there are interruptions to one or the other power supply.

Many people are much more accustomed to working on gas burners, because it is easier to regulate the temperature, and the process seems much faster. But if you choose the right electrical appliance, then you can adapt to its temperature control, while saving a lot on the cost of a communal apartment.

Which panel material is better

An important point in choosing a hob is the material from which it is made. The degree of care complexity, strength and durability of the device depends on this.

The panel can be metal (stainless steel), aluminum, enamelled, glass-ceramic or tempered glass.

  • Stainless steel

A versatile material that is used in the manufacture of many household items, because it has a relatively low cost combined with durability and ease of maintenance. Stainless steel panels are not afraid of shock and heavy weight, temperature drops and other extreme cooking conditions. There is also a choice here: the stainless steel can be polished or matte. At the same time, matte is more practical in terms of appearance, it does not show stains from water and fingerprints. The polished shiny surface requires more thorough wiping and "rubbing" to a shine.

  • Aluminum

The price of an aluminum kitchen hob will appeal to anyone with limited budget options. At the same time, the cost does not mean at all that the quality is lower than, for example, a stainless steel panel. There are simply specific conditions of use, subject to which the unit will serve faithfully for a long time. Outwardly, it can perfectly compete with any other, it can withstand any temperature conditions well, it is hardy to mechanical loads. But there are some limitations: you cannot use effort when washing, because you can easily scratch. For care, use special products and non-scuffing sponges.

  • Enamelled surface

Enamel is the most common coating for kitchen products. It is practical to use, has a wide range of colors (for lovers of color kitchen design), is easy to maintain and has an acceptable cost. In terms of temperature resistance, it is not inferior to metal surfaces without coating. Its only drawback, if handled carelessly, is the ability to chip off when struck. Later, a rusting stain may appear on the places of such chips. But for this you need to "try very hard" in the sense of using force. In general, the material cannot be called fragile, it just requires a certain amount of care in its use.

  • Glass ceramics

This is the most modern and stylish hob solution. If the kitchen is equipped according to the last "peep" of time, then it is the glass-ceramic panel that will organically fit into the design. Caring for it is extremely simple: since the surface is absolutely flat, an ordinary kitchen sponge and a special scraper, which is usually included with the hob, will be enough. In comparison with other types, these devices have a much higher cost. There are significant disadvantages: firstly, it is dangerous to drop something heavy onto the surface (point impacts are especially dangerous) - it can burst or form a chip; secondly, the reaction to sudden temperature changes (cold water, sugary drinks or sugar).

  • Strained glass

It is used for gas hobs. Lightweight and stylish solution. There is a choice: light or dark glass. The elegance of models made of this material is deceiving in appearance: refinement does not mean fragility. Withstands high temperatures, drops, durable, but is afraid of direct blows to the end, as it is made of sheet glass. Even if the impossible happens and the panel breaks, its fragments cannot do any harm, because they have blunt edges.

Variety of burners

For gas hobs, in addition to the usual ones familiar to all burners, burners with several fire rows (there can be two or three) have begun to be made on modern stoves. The introduction of such an innovation is justified by the fact that such burners evenly and faster heat the surface of the dishes and what is cooked in it.

The classification of burners on electric stoves is much broader:

  • Classic cast-iron burners with spiral heating - are durable, temperature-resistant and easy to clean. They heat up for a long time and hold the temperature for a long time after turning off. Cast iron is more commonly used with metal surfaces.
  • The tape heating element (hi-light) is more often used for glass ceramics.Fast heating and cooling, resistance to fluctuations in electrical networks.
  • The induction method is deservedly considered the most economical in terms of the amount of electricity used. This is achieved thanks to the special feature: a special spiral inside the burner heats the bottom of the cookware exclusively, without wasting energy on the environment (only the pan will be hot and nothing next to it or under it).

Important! Often they talk about strict requirements for cookware especially for induction cookers, but this is not entirely true. Any enamel or stainless steel cookware is suitable for cooking on a hob with such burners. Now almost all pans have a special elongated spiral mark, which means compatibility with an induction hob.

Hob control type

There are two types of kitchen surface control for cooking: mechanical and touch. Which one to choose is a matter for everyone individually, because everyone has their own opinion and preferences. The mechanical type is considered more reliable and proven, the sensory type is the spirit of the new time and is more suitable for those who appreciate modern design solutions in everything that surrounds it.

Modern hobs are no longer just stoves for cooking, they are devices with additional functions that you should not forget about when choosing equipment. For example, for gas stoves it can be auto-ignition and gas control, child protection, auto-off system, timer.

Induction electric hob models are the most modern and economical kitchen units of their kind. The speed of heating is aimed directly at the cookware, without wasting energy on everything around. This saves a large amount of electricity consumption. The induction mechanism heats up what is in the pan, leaving even the hotplate cold. When using stoves with this heating element, the ignition of foreign objects near the switched on burner is in principle impossible.

The stylish appearance of the surface is the advantage of the glass-ceramic coating, which serves as a durable material for the hob and decorates the kitchen at the same time.

This model has two burners with different indicators: one - 180 mm in diameter with a power of 1500 W, the second (210 mm diameter) has two modes of operation with different characteristics. Normal mode is 2000 W and Boost mode is 2300 W.

The arsenal of this panel has a large number of protective and auxiliary functions. For example, child protection, timer, Boost function. Convenient additions include the ability to recognize the presence of cookware on a switched on burner. If the stove is turned on, but you forgot to put the pan, then the heating element does not work. Boiling and overheating will no longer be a problem for the hostess, because the smart hob is able to control these processes.

Advantages:
  • Economy in energy consumption;
  • The ability to identify dishes on a hotplate;
  • Heating power amplification mode;
  • Boil-off control during cooking;
  • Ease of service.
Disadvantages:
